Homeboy Industries Fights Gang Violence and Trauma with Kinship and Services
We are proud to support the almost 40 years of work by Los Angeles-based Homeboy Industries. Led by its founder, Father Greg Boyle, with partners worldwide, more than 10,000 former gang members come through Homeboy Industries’ doors in an effort to make a positive change. They are welcomed into a community of mutual kinship, love, and a wide variety of services ranging from tattoo removal to anger management and parenting classes.
Homeboy Industries provides hope and training to formerly gang-involved and previously incarcerated people. Business enterprises include bakeries and cafes, dog grooming services, electronic recycling, silk screen embroidery and catering. Currently employment is offered for more than 180 men and women through a thoughtful, strategic 18-month program that focuses on healing just as much as it focuses on developing work readiness skills. However, Homeboy Industries’ overarching goal is to see individuals heal from trauma, allowing them to contribute fully to their family and community.
