Janice Hayes

As a senior executive, Janice has set strategy and counseled at the highest levels, most recently for the Fortune 30 healthcare insurer WellPoint, where she was vice president of communications. Previously she held similar roles for American Honda Motor Company, Boeing, and Sara Lee. She has managed teams overseeing external and internal communications, issues management, executive messaging and thought leadership, product recalls and launches, strategic partnerships and diversity. She supported the president of Boeing Commercial Airplane Group as interim director of communications for Boeing Europe in Brussels. While there, she played an integral role in the response to the crash of Swissair flight 111.

Previously, Janice ran her own communications firm in Los Angeles where her clients included Boeing and Lands’ End. She also served as vice president for Chicago-based Grant Jacoby, one of the country's largest integrated communications firms. There she oversaw teams responsible for consumer-facing clients.

Prior to her corporate work, Janice spent a decade in big city newsrooms as an award-winning journalist for The Seattle Times, The Detroit News and as a contributor to national publications including USA Today, Essence Magazine and the Baltimore Sun. A proud adoptive parent, Janice speaks regularly on adoption issues. She served on the board of the Los Angeles Child & Family Guidance Center. Janice is a graduate of Pacific Lutheran University in Seattle and resides in Las Vegas.
